Folks visiting Italy are always amazed by the bounty of traditional food that is so ubiquitous throughout the country. Indeed, it’s one of the main reasons to tour this delicious landscape. Tourists come with high expectations and very often those expectations are surpassed. The tempting culinary offerings are everywhere you look, from the humble pizzeria to the elegant ristorante. From the little carts selling street food in Palermo, to the gelaterie found in almost every piazza of Rome.
A foreigner could easily be forgiven for packing on a few extra pounds during the course of their Italian vacation.
